“Imtisal-i cahidu fillah is my intention
My effort is the absolute effort of the religion of Islam.”
Fatih Sultan Mehmed Han
Napoleon says; If the world were a country, its capital would be Istanbul.
If Necip Fazil; “Let the one who laughs, the one who weeps is happy,” he says of Istanbul…
Fahri Müdebbir, an Indian scholar and poet;
What you call a horse is correct, the rest is color,
What you call arrow is white poplar, the rest is garbage,
What you call a rider is a Turk, the rest is a burden,
What you call a city is Istanbul, the rest is a village. Say…
According to Bediuzzaman’s statements, Istanbul is defined as “a paradise on earth…”.
There are so many words to praise Istanbul; It is the place to get together and create a book. It seems that; Istanbul stands out as an earthly paradise, like an ornamented and ornate bride that adorns every lover’s dream.
This is why; Throughout history, the Conquest of Istanbul, the Conquest of Constantinople or the fall of Constantinople was the dream of every commander. There were sieges 29 times by foreign nations and Muslims, but the conquest was granted to Mehmet II and his soldiers in the 29th. 17 of the sieges were carried out by foreign states, 7 by the Umayyads and Abbasids, and the last five sieges were carried out by the Ottomans.
However, behind the insistence of Muslims to conquer Istanbul was the good news of our master, the Prophet (pbuh).
“Kostantiniyye will definitely be conquered. What a Good Commander is the Commander Who Conquered It, What a Good Soldier The Soldiers Who Conquered It.”
This last siege was the longest siege of the Ottoman Empire. This was the custom in the Ottoman Empire. The siege would last for a maximum of forty days. If the conquest was not successful, it would be called “another spring” and returned. On the fortieth day of the siege of Istanbul, when the pashas reminded the Sultan of this custom with the thought of “let’s go back”, the Sultan rode into the sea and uttered his famous word, which is an expression of determination and effort;
“Either Istanbul takes me, or I Istanbul…”
Genius; Seeing the possible in the impossible. Allah, who foretold and inspired that ships would be driven by land with His conquest; He made a Mehmed FATIH. He was saying to the Byzantines; “If they’re smart enough to chain the strait, we’re crazy enough to drive ships over land.”
….and with this determination, the conquest was granted on the 54th day. They received the good news of the Prophet (pbuh).
Our deep-rooted civilization left its mark on the history of humanity as a result of this conquest, which opened an era and closed an era, and shook the whole world.
Fatih became a hafiz at the age of 9, became a sultan at the age of 12, and conquered Istanbul at the age of 21. He spoke 7 languages, 2 empires, 14 states, 4 kingdoms and 11 principalities were destroyed in his 30 years of rule.
Fatih Sultan Mehmet Khan conquered Istanbul 569 years ago on May 29, 1453. This conquest; The end of material conquest was the beginning of spiritual conquest. Now it was time to establish a throne in the hearts. It was a slogan of Islam; muellefe-i kulub…
For example; After conquering Istanbul, Fatih Sultan Mehmet gave the people who remained in the city the right to worship freely. He embraced members of all religions. So much so that the Priest Scholarius, “II. He had a patriarch elected with the name “Gennadios”. He even granted him some privileges. For example, special courts could be established for the Orthodox, and the members of these courts would be chosen from the clergy. He was showing them how tolerance and justice in Islam are, in a practical way. This was another dimension of the conquest.
Perhaps the conquests should continue until the end of the world. Just as a new era was entered with the conquest, the fact that every new day was a door to a new realm for us and everyone made it clear that it should continue with tajdid movements in its conquests. Then, with the thought that these conquests will be with new conquerors, we need to direct our determination and effort.
It was Hz. May Allah have mercy on Fatih Sultan Muhammad Khan and his soldiers, who were blessed with the good news of the Prophet (pbuh). Make Istanbul, which hosted Eyyüb-el Ensari and carries the invaluable Hagia Sophia in its bosom, Islam until the doomsday, O Lord. Make us among the conquerors of this century always and favorably. May our conquest be blessed, bright and blessed.
